Hey there!

Welcome to Counselling with Mik, I’m so glad you’re here!

Gaining support for your mental health, whether it’s because things are tough right now, or things are actually okay but you know there’s always room to improve, counselling is a great way to give yourself the space for that.

It’s my absolute privilege to offer that space!

Have a scroll through the info below (and probably my about page) and consider the presenting concerns listed, if you’re still unsure if it feels right, reach out and we can chat about it.

Whatever life’s throwing at you right now, be proud of yourself for seeking support.

My Approach

I believe in meeting you where you are at with a bit of humour, honesty, and a commitment to helping you find genuine change. If you’re looking for someone who’ll be real with you, who can tell it like it is, offer tough love when needed, but also be in your corner through it all, then you’re in the right place!

My therapeutic approach draws from various evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy (ST), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) & Motivational Interviewing, just to list a couple.

My approach is holistic, recognising that mental health is intertwined with every area of our lives. Whilst talk therapy itself is powerful, good mental health requires looking at the bigger picture, exploring habits, nutrition, movement, relationships, sleep, and so much more! I don’t just focus on getting you back from a crappy place to functioning “well enough”, but on actually feeling good; helping you reconnect with your values, build resilience, and create a life that feels more aligned with who you want to be!

Mikayla is currently a registered Counsellor, with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). Additionally, Mikayla is a Provisional Psychologist while studying her Master of Clinical Psychology; however, Mikayla is not accepting clients as a Provisional Psychologist and is only working with clients as a Provisional Psychologist in supervised practice within the course. Unfortunately, this means medicare rebates are not yet available.
